Sarah successfully defended her dissertation proposal at the Ohio State University College of Social Work.

Here’s a brief description of her dissertation proposal:
Ohio START (Sobriety, Treatment, and Reducing Trauma) is an innovative model of child welfare casework where family peer mentors are paired with child welfare caseworkers to deliver services to families experiencing co-occurring substance use disorders and child maltreatment. Preliminary evidence suggests that this new model of casework may benefit child welfare workers. The proposed explanatory sequential mixed methods dissertation study will investigate the role of Ohio START in enhancing role clarity, interprofessional collaboration, job satisfaction, and retention among child welfare caseworkers. Findings will offer valuable insights into how innovative approaches to child welfare casework can have important benefits for the workforce.
