Originally from Zimbabwe, Rujeko “Rue” Machinga-Asaolu is a certified social worker based in Kentucky. With advanced degrees in Community Health Education, Social Work, and Couple and Family Therapy, she possesses extensive experience in community-based and school-linked programs, individual, couple, and family therapy, FlourishCare navigation, and behavioral health case management. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Social Work at the University of Kentucky, Rujeko’s research delves into maltreatment issues through intimate partner violence and highlights post-traumatic growth among IPV survivors. Recognized for her scholarly achievements, she has garnered multiple national and local prestigious academic fellowships. Rujeko currently serves on the Boards of several organizations, including a national Social Work organization, the Violence Prevention Coalition of Lexington, an Immigration & Refugee organization in Kentucky, and a mental health organization in Zimbabwe. A beacon of inspiration, her outstanding leadership and contributions to the field of social work and beyond have earned her numerous national and local leadership awards. In her relentless pursuit of impactful social work education, equity, and justice, her commitment to holistic well-being across the lifespan is a personal mission.
